Standing Up for Our Community: Links Road Plans Halted After Strong Opposition

A hugely positive step forward at today’s Norfolk County Council Full Council meeting. The proposed Links Road development in Gorleston has officially been put on pause while a fresh viability study is carried out, and I’m absolutely delighted to share this news with residents across Gorleston, Hopton and the surrounding area.
My thanks go to David Bick, Leader of the Council, for working with us and taking this action. It’s a move that many residents will welcome, especially those who’ve felt ignored and abandoned by the Great Yarmouth Borough Councillors who have prioritised ridiculous Government housing targets, instead of listening to local people and recognising the clear lack of supporting infrastructure.
But the fight doesn’t stop here. While this is a brilliant step in the right direction, it is still only a delay, at present, not a cancellation. Cllr Jon Wedon and I will continue pushing hard, through our Judicial Review against GYBC, and via every available route within the County council, if necessary, to challenge any development our infrastructure simply cannot support and to champion sensible, sustainable housing policies across all of Norfolk.
We promised residents we would stand up for them, protect our farmland, and prioritise infrastructure‑first development. And with the rest of the Restore Britain – Great Yarmouth First team, we will continue to do exactly that. We will keep fighting for the future our community deserves
